The short version
A useful starting point
Consider TidyCal when its current plan supports your complete booking requirements.
A good fit if…
Solo service providers comparing license models for a defined appointment workflow.
Look elsewhere if…
You are choosing only because an old lifetime offer sounds inexpensive.
A one-time software offer can make a scheduler look like an easy purchase. With TidyCal, evaluate the appointment process first and the license arrangement second. The important question is whether your chosen plan supports the calendars, messages and payment path that your clients will actually use.
What TidyCal documents
The official overview describes booking pages, calendar connections and paid bookings, with features split across plans. It also distinguishes current plan allowances from some older purchases. Avoid assuming that a tutorial or an earlier buyer’s account represents the license available to you today.
Model one real appointment type
For a hypothetical design reviewer, write down a single session’s duration, preparation material and payment requirement. Identify every calendar that can make the host unavailable. A personal commitment can matter just as much as another client appointment, but the scheduler can only use the availability information you connect and configure.
If you will charge for the session, follow the current setup documentation for your payment service and check the complete cost. Keep the booking price, payment-provider charges and any platform charges distinct. Do not treat a software license purchase as proof that all future transactions are free of additional costs.
Choose a plan from requirements
Make a short requirements sheet containing connected calendars, meeting-link creation, booking messages and any team participation. Compare each requirement with the current plan description. A lifetime label does not describe every entitlement, and an upgrade can change the economics of a purchase that initially looked sufficient.
Use a repeatable trial script
Create a controlled example appointment and inspect availability, confirmation, rescheduling and cancellation. For paid sessions, use the provider’s documented testing route where available and keep the booking outcome separate from payment settlement. Record what happens when a relevant calendar is busy. If the workflow is dependable for your needs and the license terms fit, the pricing model becomes a useful final comparison rather than the starting assumption.

Review scope
This is a research-based editorial assessment of the linked official documentation, not a hands-on test or a performance benchmark. Suggested trials are evaluation exercises, not reported results. Strengths
- A defined booking workflow can be compared against several license options.
Limitations
- Entitlements and transaction costs need checking separately from the license label.
